Jack (on left) is trying to repair H.M.V. gramophone. Cecil Piper (right) was there from Tumut marking horses. Taken on my way up to the Branches. 1953 shearing season. Old eucalyptus still
From the reverse side of print: "Old Eucalyptus Still. Leaves and branches are packed into square tank, water introduced, and a fire lit underneath tank. The oil is carried off with the steam and condensed. In this instance, the stream in foreground was dammed, and the condensed oil allowed to accumulate on surface of water. Hanging Rock - Tumut. 17th Oct. 1948. 5.00 p.m.".

From the reverse side of print: "Harry Pether's old hut on Rings Creek, seen from north east, with my camp in left foreground - bush shelter overfly. Hut now disused, with a bad lean towards creek. Probably over 30 years old. Kangaroos about - their bones lying about hut. They feed on flat just below hut, on bend of creek. Spot seldom visited. Country around hut reasonably easy. Ht. 3410'. Sund. 27th Jan. 1957. 11.00 a.m. Sun".

Bogged, near Goobarragandra Station
From the reverse side of print: "Bogged on way to Greasy Macs between reserve and Jack Cribbs' (Goobra Stn.). Spring had broken out underneath road, following record wet winter. Truck dislodged portion of corduroy, and front wheel went off into eighteen inches or two feet of sloppy mud at side. Could not get free. Towed out after dark by 'Holden'. Sund. 16th Dec. 1956. 5.40 p.m. Sun low".

Harris' Hut
From the reverse side of print: "Leaving Harris's Hut for Cooinbil. Norm shot a sheep on way to Harris' from Coolamine as we were out of meat. Meat lasted until we reached Tumut. Raining very heavily when we reached hut. Hard & slippery pull for horse up track over Range. We got on to disused track by mistake for a while. Weather cleared temporarily. Track to Learmont's Hut impracticable. Wed. 29th Oct. 1952. 12.45 p.m. Sun".
