The Nun in the Nightgown
One of Wagga Wagga's most notorious scandals (and there's been a few!) erupted around an Irish woman, Sister Ligouri (born Bridget Mary Partridge), who ran away from the Mount Erin Convent in the winter of 1920 and took refuge with a prominent Anglican family up the street. The sectarian bitterness of the day ensured that the news of her flight from the convent made national headlines and put Wagga in the spotlight.
